Hypercoagulation Tests

Genetic defects predisposing to thrombosis are common in the general population.  For example, homozygosity for Factor V (Leiden) increases the risk of venous thrombosis 50-80 fold.  Monitoring for these disorders in pregnancy, traumatic surgery, and other conditions can identify high risk individuals.
