Tests for Allergists & Immunologists
We provide custom consultations
focused on
the diagnosis and treatment of allergic and immunologic
diseases, including asthma, hay fever, hives, eczema,
and drug and food allergies.
Molecular pathology testing in this specialty area
includes assays such as lymphocyte mitogen stimulation,
microdeletion syndrome assessment (i.e. DiGeorge
syndrome/thymic aplasia), and cellular assessment of
immunodeficiencies.
Many physicians in Allergy and Immunology are certified
by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI),
a Conjoint Board of the American Board of Internal
Medicine (ABIM) and the American Board of Pediatrics
(ABP). LSUSHC has an accredited training program for
Allergy/Immunology certification. This program is one
of 72 Allergy/Immunology ACGME-accredited training
programs.
Allergy/Immunology fellows rotate in the Molecular
Pathology laboratory and contribute to test development
and interpretation.
